Sanctuary for Savvy Shoppers in Oxford

2008 heralds the opening of Oxford’s freshest new clothing boutique, Juno. Named after the goddess of womanhood and located in Oxford’s most exclusive retail address – Little Clarendon Street – owner Sally Hammond has created a vision of the perfect shopping experience. “Above all I want Juno to be a place where my customers feel relaxed, uplifted and unhurried while they take a leisurely look at the clothes on offer.”

A unique element of the Juno experience will be the chance to take advantage of a one-to-one style consultation service. Styling the women of Oxford is Sally’s ambition, although she plans to go about it in a different way from TV’s Trinny and Susannah. “I really believe in being honest with people about what suits them,” she explains, “but that doesn’t mean being brutal – or grabbing hold of people like they do! A lot of women are uncertain about what suits them, and I get such a kick out of helping someone discover their own sense of style – experimenting with different looks and colours until we get it right. I also think it’s really important to find out about someone’s lifestyle. I want all my customers to leave the shop feeling totally confident about the clothes they’ve bought and wanting to wear them again and again.”

Sally’s home is in Abingdon, but she has lived in the county for over 20 years and has had a love for Oxford since she studied languages at Brasenose College. Her background in fashion buying and retail means that she has been able to cleverly source clothes that she knows will make the women of Oxfordshire look and feel great.

New pieces from brands such as Great Plains, Made in Heaven, Fenn Wright Manson, Libelula, Saltwater and American Vintage will be constantly added so there is every reason to keep popping in to see what’s new! “I want to stock clothes that are fashionable without being ‘trendy’, to suit a wide range of women – whether it’s a career girl in her 20s, a busy Mum, or a ‘forever 40’ year old still looking stylish in her 50s and beyond,” says Sally. “I think fashion is now less about your age and more about your attitude.” So release your inner goddess and head straight to Juno where Sally is waiting to match-make you with your perfect outfit.
