Katie Holmes (aka Mrs Tom Cruise) was one of the first celebs to embrace boyfriend jeans in 2008. At the time, style pundits loudly asked what she was thinking, but since then, they've rightfully had a change of heart and this uber-comfortable trend is here to stay for a little longer at least. Once Current/Elliott's version hit the market there was no stopping the rest of the celeb pack and everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Rachel Bilson has been seen in their distressed denim version. To avoid looking out of your depth, tuck your T in to show off the waist band and add a simple wide belt.

We really need to thank Kate Moss for trailblazing skinny jeans into fashion. They may look impossible to wear, but try some on and you could be surprised - skinny jeans have a lot of stretch in them and are surprisingly comfortable once you get them on (try Citizens of Humanity Slick Skinnies for starters) You don't have to expose every bump either, just wear them with a longer top or tunic and add heels to elongate your legs.

Victoria Beckham does flared jeans better than any other celebrity. Tempting though it may be to wear your flared jeans with a flat shoe, they work best with a heel to add height to the silhouette. Balance the look by teaming a short top or T shirt, add a fabulous pair of shades and you're done!

The Bootcut Jean is a classic for day or evening. Flaring slightly at the bottom to fit perfectly over a boot or high heel, define the look by wearing a pointed boot à la Jennifer Anniston or Julia Roberts.
