Northern Ireland Gets Painted Red Ruby Rouge

Craving some Soho style, dreaming of Melrose chic, coveting fifth avenue fashion? Then fret no more, Red Ruby Rouge, brain child of former New Yorker, Fiona Kennedy has opened its doors in Holywood and launched its on line boutique.

Red Ruby Rouge focuses on NYC and So Cal lines, designers and style, exclusive to Northern Ireland with the likes of  Porter Grey, Adam + Eve, Geren Ford, Tucker by Gaby Basora and By Boe making their debuts in Red Ruby Rouge. As well as the “bricks and mortar” of the boutique, designer hungry fashionistas will also be able to shop online and indulge their Sex and the City side. RedRubyRouge.com will allow those who crave these exclusive labels but can’t squeeze in a Holywood jaunt, to shop at home in the comfort of their high heels.

Edinburgh born Fiona spent five years working in New York University’s School of Law and in every spare second dedicated time to pursuing her love of Manhattan style and fashion. Now Fiona has traded her enviable Greenwich Village lifestyle to open her own business in the form of the Red Ruby Rouge boutique. Fiona says of her transition “It was always my intention to pursue a more creative career and I spent all of my free time in New York preparing for it. I attended classes at the Manhattan based Fashion Institute of Technology in order to further develop my technical understanding of design and made some fantastic contacts along the way. I know there is a virtually untapped market in the UK for original, unique and well made pieces and the US based designers who are on board can’t wait to feed the appetite”.

With the Holywood boutique and online store gaining momentum, Fiona is delighted to see her dream developing before her eyes. “Red Ruby Rouge will appeal to anyone bored of the high street, who is keen to keep up with contemporary design and who prides themselves on finding individual and well made design pieces. We envisage our boutique being a little sanctuary away from the depressing chaos of department stores on a Saturday afternoon.” Fiona explains “Our clients will appreciate luxury, original style and all of the little details that make shopping a pleasure – beautiful surroundings in which to try our pieces, a very personalized service and a depth of choice with which homogenized chain stores simply cannot compete”.

Red Ruby Rouge, already having added note worthy designers to their roster since opening, has secured further new additions debuting as part of the boutique’s Spring/ Summer 2008 season and promises to continue introducing exciting and up and coming names in the coming months.

In addition to the Boutique servies, Red Ruby Rouge hosts private shopping parties and personal appointments plus a comprehensive gift service. “The response in Belfast has already been extremely positive and we’re delighted at how the word has spread throughout the rest of the UK and Ireland via our on line store. There is a very savvy, very forward thinking market of young women in cities like Belfast, Glasgow, Dublin and Edinburgh, best described as the Sex and the City generation, who are largely un-catered for in their home towns. The Red Ruby Rouge ethos will go some way to redressing the balance.”
